Problem
1:
When I double click on the Launch Boards Desktop icon,
I get an Error and the splash screen (image with the
doctor holding the CD) comes up, but I cannot close
it.
This problem occurs on Windows 7 and Vista computers
and is a result of incorrectly performing the extra
3rd step (setting up the desktop icon to run as an administrator).
This is usually caused by omitting the APPLY button
click.
Solution:
- You must first stop the boards program (the splash
screen) using the windows task manager or an easier
way to do this is to simply reboot the computer.
However, here are the steps if you do not want to
reboot. Note after you reboot or do these steps
DO NOT double click the icon again before following
the steps in paragraph 2 below.
Steps:
- Hold down the Control, Alt and Delete keys
at the same time .
- Click on Start Task Manager at the bottom
- Make sure the process tab is selected at the
top
- Scroll to find a process called irz7_reg.exe
- Make sure it is highlited and click the End
Process button at the lower right side of the
task manager window. (note you may have more
then one if you repeatedly tried to launch boards.
- Repeat step 4 (view
a video) to fully understand how to perform
these steps.
- Move your mouse pointer to the icon of Launch
Boards on the Desktop (Green Cadusa) and click
the right mouse button for a popup menu.
- Select "Properties" command from the
popup menu at the bottom.
- A dialog box will appear on the screen. Click
on the "Compatibility" tab.
- Click on Change Settings for all users at the
bottom.
- Check Run this program as an administrator at
the bottom under Privilege Level
- Click Apply then
the "OK" button to confirm this new
setting.
- Click Ok again on the Launch Boards Property
dialog box
- Now double click Launch Boards. You will get
the UAC warning. Remember always say Allow and
the programs Splash screen will come up. Check
"do not show again" and click Close.
You are now in Boards. Select what you want to
do from the menu across the top.
Problem 2:
I have a new Netbook computer and when I launch Boards,
I just see a picture of Dr. Dallalio and cannot use
the program.
Solution:
Just hit the Enter key which will close the splash
screen and you will then be able to access the menu
items and use Boards by the Numbers. This is caused
by the lower resolution found on the Netbook computers.
The newer generation netbooks will fix this problem,
however, currently all netbooks have one resolution
and many programs will not function at that lower resolution.
Luckily, the default button on our splash screen is
the Close button, so hitting the Enter key closes our
splash screen.
Problem 3:
The control buttons are either half displayed or not
visible in the screens. For example: When you click
on the Exam Center, the buttons on the bottom of the
screen are not visible or half visible. This may be
present on the Test screens as well.
Solution:
You have your Text set at larger then normal size.
To correct this please follow these steps. Watch the
video from Microsoft and set the text to normal 100%
(Default).
Windows 7:
To make the text on your screen larger
or smaller
Open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button
, clicking Control Panel, and then, under Appearance
and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution.
Choose one of the following: (Choose Smaller).:
• Smaller -
100% (default). This keeps text and other items at normal
size.
• Medium - 125%. This sets text and other items
to 125% of normal size.
• Larger - 150%. This sets text and other items
to 150% of normal size.
This option appears only if your monitor supports a
resolution of at least 1200 x 900 pixels.
Click Apply.
To see the change, close all of your programs and then
log off of Windows. This change will take effect the
next time you log on.
Windows XP:
- Click Start, then Control panel. Select Display.
- Then Click the settings tab at the top right
- Then click the the Advanced button (lower right).
- Change the DPI setting to Normal (96) DPI) by using
the drop down arrow on the right.
- Click OK and OK again.

Problem 4:
After installing the program, I get the following
error:
An error occurred with the Boards Program.
The App Path is C:\Program Files\Boards 2011
The Common Path is C:\Documents.........
Version: 1.0.0.0
5 The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered
on the local machine Click

Solution:
The Microsoft Database Engine did not install properly.
You will need to download and install it again. Click
Here to download the file. You may Run it or save
it to your desktop and double click it to run it. After
it starts, just follow the instructions. If you are
given a choice to reinstall or repair the Microsoft
Office Access engine, Choose this option not uninstall.
This means the Boards installer did install it, but
it needs to be repaired.
